Yerba Mate, pronounced Yerba 'Matay', is a plant endemic to South America. It has no relation to the tea plant, Camellia Sinensis, but it tastes very, very similar!
This 'tea' is drank regularly across South America, and the plant has a lot of health benefits, similarly to tea and many herbal brews. The taste is very similar to tea, making it a great, caffeine free substitute for tea if you want one.
It has its own delicious unique qualities, vegetative notes, earthy, nutty tones and bright, grassy aromas. It is wonderful by itself or blended with whichever extras you enjoy.
Yerba Mate is yet to become big in the UK, but we recommend giving it a try! It makes one heck of a brew.
